An alternative story where Hart Lovelace and Evil Batlet use each other to climb the corporate ladder... by sleeping with each other.
Hart Lovelace, business school dropout and Batco Corp. secretary, sees no way to get anywhere. Carrying a perpetual chip in his shoulder from losing the life he wanted, he curses every financial analyst, strategy consultant, and fresh-faced new hire to walk through Batco's revolving doors. HR tells him he's better where he is, and no one's paying for him to finish his very expensive degree, so it might as well be more worthless than trash.
So when Evil Batlet, full name Eveline but call him Evil, financial analyst and MBA grad from Hart's alma mater, approaches him with a thinly veiled proposition, Hart sees his chance.
To pull himself up or drag Evil down, they'll find out.

Evil Batlet
A smarmy, annoying financial analyst two floors down from where Hart works in General Affairs. He believes in living fast and dying young, with a destructive streak to match. Dangerously sharp and deliciously sexy, or so he'd like to think.
Sleeping with his boss, Zimmerman, and the affair's been going on for long enough that he's gotten attached.
Hart Lovelace
The pretty secretary to Evil's big bad wolf. Never satisfied, always vicious, and learning that he'll do anything for the prize... even sell himself out like a particularly juicy piece of meat.
Zimmerman
Evil's boss, a senior manager in the Finance department. Because he wants to cut Evil off soon, he's been trying to set him up with Fran.
Fran Shelley
Leading the R&D department but wants to switch to Marketing. She doesn't like people knowing she's Zimmerman's daughter because of the nepotism.
Claude from IT
Never seen without coffee in his "Can't Start The Day Without My T" mug. Unintentionally offended Evil once and now gets spammed with tech support tickets every morning. However, he's extremely fast at closing them.

The man looming above him couldn’t have been slicker if he tried, with his sleazy smile, gelled hair, and pressed shirt. Even though the firm didn’t do Casual Fridays, he was missing a blazer and tie, but the watch on his right hand glinted silver—a Rolex that required a waitlist and four figures. The name badge on his lanyard said “Eveline Batlet,” along with his job title: Financial Analyst.
He was also smiling at Hart like he wanted to eat him.
Sour Grapes
That the investor conference took place in Niagara Falls was better than the middle of nowhere, but just barely because Niagara Falls was the cheap Vegas of Canada. Hart would never have gotten to go if his boss wasn’t Zimmerman, Director of the Finance Department. He was lucky to be his secretary if it meant getting a taste of the high life.
My incoherent ramblings... heh.
